Insta360 X4

Step 1 — Enable GPS Activity Stats

Requires Insta360 app v1.73.0 or later and Bluetooth enabled on your phone.

  1. Open the Insta360 app and make sure your camera's time is synced with your phone
  2. Tap Me at the bottom of the app
  3. Tap GPS Activity Stats and authorise GPS access when prompted
  4. Tap Start Recording — keep the app open on the GPS page when you start your drive
  5. Once recording, you can switch to other apps — the camera doesn't need to stay connected
  6. Swipe right in the app to stop GPS recording when you're done
💡 GPS needs open sky to work — a roof or windscreen mount is ideal. GPS Activity Stats doesn't work in Timelapse, Slow Motion, or Bullet Time modes.

Step 2 — Export GPX from Insta360 Studio (PC / Mac)

  1. Open Insta360 Studio on your computer
  2. Import your clip (drag and drop or File → Import)
  3. Click the clip to select it in the library
  4. In the top toolbar, click the GPS button — a map preview of your track will appear
  5. Click Export GPX in the GPS panel
  6. Choose where to save the .gpx file and click Save
💡 The X4 records GPS at approximately 1Hz (one point per second). A 30-minute drive will produce around 1,800 track points — more than enough for a detailed route map.

Step 3 — Export GPX from the Insta360 mobile app

  1. Open the Insta360 app and connect your camera or browse your library
  2. Tap the clip you want to export GPS from
  3. Tap the ⋯ (more options) menu in the corner
  4. Select GPS Track or Export GPS
  5. Choose GPX format and save or share the file
